The usually (polite) response is yes they are.
Internally the Angry Coach thinks...
"Stop being a sissy and go LOW...don't you dare perform those horendous sissy footballer quarter squats in my gym!"
"Park your ego at the door, remove a few wheels and squat properly...the way your knees are designed to operate."
Its time to Step Up & stop being influenced by the naysayers who preach the knee tracking arguement and probably bench more than they squat, or perform every other leg exercise on the planet besides the King of All Exercises...
